Gulf Coast Thunder 2020 Champions!
 Wins Tie-Breaker Over America In
Covid-19 Shortened Season!
Best Record For 2nd Consecutive Season!

*John Pfister's Gulf Coast Thunder avenged it's disappointing 2019 championship
loss by defeating league-leading America 8-5 the last week of the season and finishing
in first place by way of a tie-breaker.
*The 2020 season was a 9-week sprint to the title due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  With
the playoffs cancelled, and America leading the league going into the final week, Gulf
Coast Thunder relied on an improbable hero by the name of Wilmer Flores to seal the
comeback victory.  Flores homered 3 times, drove in 7 runs, and had a .316/1.105 BA/OPS
for the series.  Jacob deGrom added 24 strikeouts to help the cause.
*For the season, Gulf Coast Thunder was led by Eugenio Suarez' 15 homers and 38 rbi's,
Ronald Acuna Jr.'s 46 runs scored, Trent Grisham's 10 stolen bases, and Juan Soto's
.351/1.185 BA/OPS.  On the mound, Max Fried went 7-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.09
WHIP.  Jacob deGrom whiffed 104 batters, Alex Colome had 12 saves, and Josh
Staumont recorded 8 holds.
Congratulations to champion Gulf Coast Thunder, 2nd-place America, and 3rd-place
Photonic BoSoxs!
